Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Project

HSELC must collect at least 500 pairs of sneakers by November 11th to take part in the Nike Project.  Dirty sneakers, ripped sneakers, sneakers that are out of style or too small, we need them all.  Donated sneakers will be recycled into a padded playground floor, like the one on the playground at HSELC, which was donated to the center by the residents of Loblloly.  Deborah Noel, the pre-kindergarten teacher at HSELC is leading the effort. So far, more than 300 pairs have been donated.

“We know that we can reasily reach 500 if everyone in the community looks in the closet and drags out that old grungy pair that no one else wants,” said Ms. Noel. “We want them. They’ll help kids on the playground somewhere be safer and keep the shoes out of a landfill”.

To donate sneakers, drop them off at the HSELC during school hours or call (772) 546-5462.
